THE HARDEST OF SMALL THINGS

The mailbox daunts me
My emails haunt me
Bills, a last minute pressure in my week
This all proves a hole in my life oh so bleak

A rare appearance to the household contributions
Then I’m done and can get back to my solitary contraptions

Brush your teeth and put on a smile
If you plan on calling don’t make that dial
What takes so little from you will cause me to walk a mile

Endeavoring to play my music that makes me happy
I could continue but it will only sound sappy

Cameras, barcodes, QR codes, GPS tracking, face recognition, fingerprints, cell tower surveillance, I’m just waiting for that Elon chip that marks the emergence of the beast. I’m not looking forward to this feast.
